A Special Bespoke Artwork: The Story of ‘Maharaja’
Every so often, there are commissions that resonate deeply with both you as an artist and your clients who commission them. ‘Maharaja’ (2024) is certainly one such work, a bespoke commission that embodies a calming personality, softly commanding attention without an overly contrasted palette. On completion, this unique large-scale original work exuded a captivating energy.
Installed in a beautiful home for a wonderful family, ‘Maharaja’ was envisioned as a work with archival influences, a refined sense of grandeur through beautiful waves and infusions of pure 24k gold, exuding a harmonious presence. A captivating scale of 122cm x 152cm (48” x 60”), afforded a striking, near museum-sized original that transformed the environment it now inhabits. Maharaja's new forever home is filled with natural light and set in a countryside location in Central England, surrounded by an area of natural beauty and lakes.
Created through a seamless collaboration with my clients, this piece was imagined in regal tones and a custom palette of Royal Garnet, Berry, 24k Gold, soft Silver tones, and Pure Gold Leaf. These supported a composition that shifts elegantly each day, crafted with polished resin for a reflective depth that evolves from morning to night. This interplay of textures and tones ensures that ‘Maharaja’ is not only seen but experienced, a living artwork that continues to reveal new dimensions over time.
